About 4 years ago Coach Tony started a chess club in a small private school in Wilsonville, Pacific Northwest Academy. The club started with only 6 students but in the last three years this club has grown to 30 kids. During this time the students at PNA chess club has evolved from beginning chess players to prize winning team. The last two years the team has competed in the state Chess for Success (CFS) regional tournament they have taken first place, qualifying them for the CFS Team State Championship. In addition several members of the team took first place at the tournament for their grade level, qualifying them for the individual portion of the CFS state championship.
